The Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Acute Care) will give you the essential clinical knowledge and skills needed for employment in the health industry. As a graduate you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of public or private health care environments including acute care hospitals, aged care facilities and community settings.

During the course you will be involved in classroom activities and online learning including medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, and experience our simulated practice where care is delivered to manikins. You will also be required to undertake 80 hours of clinical work placement. The Department of Health requirements for acute care settings are met with the units covered in this course.

Mandatory vaccination requirements

The Commonwealth Department of Health and the Western Australian Department of Health have advised that it will be mandatory for residential aged care workers to have a COVID-19 vaccination from 17 September 2021, this includes students undertaking work placements. 

Working alongside allied health staff is a growing industry

Gain the skills to assist allied health professionals (physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists) with the implementation of maintenance therapy programs to improve a client's quality of life.

During this course, you will learn how to work with children, adults and older people with a range of physical disabilities, mental health conditions, developmental delays, communication difficulties and/or social disadvantage. You will have access to a team of allied health professionals who are able to share their experiences and support your learning throughout the course.

Online learning makes up part of the course delivery and access to online resources to reinforce classroom learning is provided. You will be supported in learning the required knowledge and skills through classroom discussions and simulation activities before undertaking a full-time work placement.

When you complete the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) you will be ready to start a rewarding career providing direct care to clients in residential, home and community settings.

Aged Care Workers provide personal, physical and emotional support to older people who require assistance with daily living. When you provide support to older people you are able to make a tremendous difference to their quality of life and achieve real personal satisfaction through your work. Aged care work is rewarding in itself and provides the opportunity to meet a wide variety of older people.

When you complete this course you will be ready for a career in Shearing Shed Hands or Wool Handler.

You will have the skills and knowledge to handle wool and work in a shearing shed. You will learn skills penning sheep, performing board duties, pressing wool, and preparing sheep for shearing and crutching. You will also learn about first aid, effective communication, responding to emergencies, and safety in the workplace.

When you complete this course you will be ready for a career in Wool Classing. This course is designed to provide you with a range of practical skills, technical training and communication skills for a career in Wool Classing.

You will have the skills and knowledge to be a Wool Classer. This qualification is also a specialist wool classing qualification for owner classers and enables them to apply for registration with AWEDX Ltd as an Owner Classer.

When you complete this course you will be ready for career in the Shearing Industry as a full time occupation.

You will have the skills and knowledge to shear sheep to a professional standard with increased speed and accuracy, with knowledge of how the Shearing Industry works, wool quality and Occupational Safety and Health.

The course is a component of the CSWE, English as an additional language (EAL) curriculum framework. It is an intermediate course for learners who have had either formal or informal exposure to English and who have already developed a basic level of English language competence and numeracy skills.

It provides English language learning for EAL learners, primarily targeting newly arrived migrants and refugees who need to develop routine language skills to participate in a range of community, further training or employment contexts.

You will gain valuable experience and skills in emergency response drills, first aid, responsible service of alcohol, teamwork and customer service, and preparation for cabin duties. You will gain confidence in dealing with difficult passengers on an aircraft with crew member security training.
